Dr. Bob Arnot and Lifemax Partner to Promote Mila and Chia

International Humanitarian to Serve as Chief Wellness Educator on Lifemax Advisory Council

ORLANDO, FL (March 3, 2010)—Lifemax, a network marketing company known for Mila™, the world’s healthiest whole raw food, has partnered with renowned physician and humanitarian, Dr. Bob Arnot.  Dr. Arnot—who believes in the fundamental value of whole foods nutrition and its power to combat the health issues associated with today’s western fast food epidemic—is the first official Advisory Council member to join Lifemax.

As Lifemax Chief Wellness Educator, Dr. Arnot’s vast knowledge and worldwide connections will help to expose Mila, a proprietary blend of Salvia hispanica L., more commonly known as chia, to the world.  On the recent Founders’ call in which Lifemax Founders Jim and Sherri Wear announced Dr. Arnot’s involvement and introduced him to all Lifemax Independent Distributors worldwide, the Emmy award-winning medical correspondent recounted how he called governmental officials of Sudan in northeastern Africa.  He requested that East African countries partner with Lifemax to do a test pilot program to grow chia using as much land as needed, with the ultimate hope of cultivating sufficient hearty crops with which to produce Mila and make it a staple product of the region.  The governmental officials have opened their arms to embrace the opportunity in hopes that chia will be a sustainable crop that could change the continent of Africa.

In his new role, Dr. Arnot plans to unpack the story and hidden value behind “The Miracle Seed,” an ancient Aztec-inspired superfood that is gluten-free, packed with omega-3s, protein, and antioxidants, and easy to incorporate into your favorite recipes.  He will educate on Mila’s myriad of daily uses and infinite compositional benefits geared towards improving health conditions, overall wellness, endurance and athletic performance.

“The chia story is an extremely complex one, as is the case in any really good story,” commented Dr. Arnot.  “The role of Lifemax Chief Wellness Educator is to pull together, validate and then precisely communicate and educate the public about the urgency for dietary change in America, the power of chia, the Aztec diet, and Mila.  It is also important that we lay out all of the medical and nutritional advantages or Mila, and pull together diets, meal plans and therapeutic programs to the enormous benefit to the Lifemax Independent Distributors and to the public.“

“We have been seeking, for the past 18 months, the perfect fit to head up the Lifemax Council,” commented Sherri Wear. “We feel that Dr. Arnot’s dedication to promoting nutrition awareness, coupled with his vision and mission, seamlessly parallel the Lifemax World Vision and our mission to guide followers towards a long and vibrant life.”

About Dr. Bob Arnot:
Arnot is one of the most recognized names in medical and health professions, having served as the former chief medical editor and special foreign correspondent for NBC News. As a special correspondent, Arnot has covered numerous world-changing events, including the Gulf War, Iraq War, and wars in Somalia, Sudan, Rwanda, and Kosovo. He has reported on epidemic diseases from Ebola in Central Africa to AIDS in Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Malawi, to cholera in Bangladesh, Somalia, and Turkey. He has also reported from Pakistan prior to the United States’ military response to the September 11 terrorist attacks. He has reported extensively on the threat of terrorism and strongly believes in humanitarian campaigns against terror as a way to break down worldwide terrorist organizations, their cells, and military training camps.

Dramatic change in lipid profile

Theresa_FordwcreditsI have a special interest in Musculoskeletal health and have incorporated a Patient Fitness Center into our practice. In the field of Rheumatology and Immunology there are over 100 different forms of Rheumatic disorders, each unique in its own presentation. Common symptoms include pain and inflammation. We are so fortunate in that over the past 10 years we have had dramatic advances in our field. We can not only offer improvement in symptoms but also prevention of structural damage. Pharmacological therapeutic intervention is imperfect alone, however. Nonpharmacological intervention is imperative and enhances any other therapeutic intervention. This includes energy conservation, fitness training and optimal nutrition.

So we are extremely excited about offering to our patients a new option for improving their nutritional status. We are now recommending Mila to our patients as a nutritional source. For years we have recommended Flaxseed and Omega-3’s to our patients to supplement their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory regimens hoping for optimal absorption and bioavailabaility.  We finally do that with Mila.

The ancient Aztecs used Salvia hispanica L medicinally to relieve joint pain and skin conditions. This had a natural attraction to us in the field of Rheumatology, supporting our efforts to incorporate non-pharmacological measures in our treatment regimens.

I recommended Mila to a patient who has a disorder know as Sarcoidosis, which is a multi-systemic inflammatory disorder. In her case it manifests with joint and lung involvement.  She also has Hypertension and Hyperlipidemia. She is on multiple medications included Prednisone. So when her Cardiologist recommended additional medications to lower her Cholesterol level she determined to become more proactive in her healthcare. She began a spreadsheet charting her Lipid levels between April and July of this year. She started using Mila in July 2009 and had completed 4 weeks of daily doses at time of her last Lipid profile. Her chart looked like this (Normal values):

Lipid Profile 4/02/09 7/28/09 Points Decreased
Total Cholesterol (<200) 225 212 13
Triglycerides (0-149) 71 53 18
HDL (good Chol >60) 56 81 29
LDL  (bad Chol <100) 155 116 39

I verified her results with the laboratory and needless to say we were both excited. Her Cardiologist told her to keep doing what she was doing and did not increase her medications.

We are well aware of the importance of not only treating illness and disease but the imperative necessity of prevention. Our diets hold a major key to this intervention. We feel that we have an obligation to be aware of our patients’ nutritional as well as pharmacological intake and to ensure the proper combinations. We look forward to working with our colleagues toward this effort.

Mila for menopause

Just wanted to let you know how much Mila has helped me after using it for only seven weeks.

I have suffered from severe dry eyes for some time and was using a prescription medication for over a year and a half. My eye would burn for 10 minutes after using it and I was still having dry eye problems. It was very painful – like the top layer had been peeled off of my eye. Since taking the Mila I have had no dry eye problems and have discontinued the medication.

I have also been using medicine to treat my Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) that didn’t seem to help very much. I thought that I just had to live with my symptoms and then along came Mila. After taking Mila for a week or two, I realized that I didn’t need my IBS medicine as much and that my IBS was not bothering me – and has not bothered me since then.

Last year, I bought three bottles of another Salvia hispanica L. seed because of their claim that it would help gastrointestinal problems. I used approximately two and a half bottles and then quit because I couldn’t tell any difference. What a difference Mila has made in my life!

— Carol H.

The introduction of Mila has changed my life! I am a 46 year-old woman going through menopause. I have been doing my best to deal with the hot flashes and night sweats on my own without taking medication. After mentioning this to Dr. Mark Luckie, he suggested that I try Mila. Thank goodness he did! My symptoms are not even an issue now. I recommend this product to everyone! I have energy that I did not have and I feel 100% better!

From skeptic to beginner

Robert_Ford_wcreditsI have to admit that I was a skeptic, like most of my colleagues, when I was presented with yet another “supplement” to aid my treatment of patients and to add to their wellness and preventative medicine programs. However, the potential of a product with high source Omega-3 fatty acids intrigued me. I researched chia over the course of a few months and could find little, if any, fault with the science.

As a busy Family Practitioner, I am presented on a daily basis with patients with GI problems, arthritic complaints, menopausal symptoms, sleep disorders, weight issues, hypertension and elevated cholesterol.  The treatment of these conditions are plagued by side effects and high cost.  Mila has the potential to treat all of these conditions and more.  The future of medicine is effective, low cost treatments with minimal side effects that will benefit preventative medicine programs.  I honestly believe that Mila has a place in that future.

Early research has suggested that pregnant women given Omega-3 fatty acids have children with better eye-hand coordination and reach milestones earlier in life. Chia is safe in pregnancy and can be given to children without detrimental effect. Studies in the treatment of hyperlipidemia, attention deficit disorder, hypertension and weight loss are underway.

In addition, I am the medical director of a weight loss clinic and plan on offering Mila to patients as an adjunct to medication. Taken before meals, Mila absorbs 7 to 10 times its volume of liquid and gives a sensation of fullness.

On a personal note, since starting Mila, I find that I have more mental alertness, energy and sleep better. I suffer from chronic insomnia and typically only get 5 to 6 hours of sleep a night.  The first week I took Mila, I overslept 3 days and was late to the office!  I take Mila one hour prior to lunch and find my appetite significantly diminished with no afternoon hunger pangs.

I recommend Mila to anyone who wants to feel better and am working to get my local medical community on board!

Diet help. The chia seed

Author: Lea Davies

I’m always on the hunt for new WEIGHT LOSS HELP, and discovered one of the best TIPS TO LOSE WEIGHT that I’ve ever seen.

It’s called the CHIA SEED, and was widely used by the Aztec’s but virtually disappeared after they were conquered by the Spanish. They called it “The Running Seed” and would consume it before battle for energy and endurance.

This amazing little seed is wonderful if you need HELP LOSING WEIGHT, and there are many ways in which they can be used.

When CHIA SEEDS are exposed to any liquid (preferably filtered water, you’ll find out why later), it’s weight and size increases at a ratio of about 9-1. A gel coating forms around the outside of the seed and is very difficult to remove, so when ingested, the body will treat it as food, thinking it’s full, but because the gel is made of water, you won’t be adding any calories.

You can also sprinkle them onto food and it will work in the same way. When the Seeds reach the stomach, the gel will form around them making you feel fuller (and let’s face it, hunger is the dieter’s biggest enemy). The gel is then slowly removed in the intestines which will help hydrate you and keep your digestive system moving.

The gel is one of the main benefits of the Chia Seed as it’s believed to create a barrier between Carbohydrates and Digestive Enzymes which slows the conversion rate of Carbohydrate to Sugar, which will then help to keep the blood sugar at a stable level and in turn will help to reduce FOOD CRAVINGS.

But it doesn’t end there. The gel can be used in cooking. If you simply must have that Cookie or piece of cake, you still can but with half the fat. If your recipe states 8 tablespoons of butter (melted), use 4 tablespoons of butter and 4 tablespoons of Chia gel and bake as normal. These amazing little seeds have no taste of their own, but will enhance the flavour of anything they are added to. This is why it is better to use filtered water only as some area’s have fluoride added to their tap water so therefore, the Chia will enhance this flavour as well.

How to make CHIA GEL.

1 tablespoon of CHIA SEEDS.

9 tablespoons of WATER.

Stir to prevent lumps and leave to stand for 10-15 minutes. This produces the gel which can be used as if it were oil or butter in any recipe. Cover and it will keep in the fridge for 1 week.

Nutritionally it’s good for you too. It contains 15 x more magnesium than Broccoli, more anti-oxidants than Blueberries, as much vitamin C as in 6 oranges, nearly 9 x the amount of Omega 3 as in Salmon, double the amount of fibre found in Bran Flakes, nearly 3 x more iron than Spinach, more protein than Soy, 2 x the amount of potassium in a Banana, 6 x the amount of Calcium found in whole milk and naturally contains Boron, which transfers Calcium into your bones. It contains NO CHOLESTEROL, and is good for Vegetarians as it contains complete proteins, making for an all round, HEALTHY WEIGHT LOSS DIET.

But to top it all off, pesticides don’t need to be used when growing the seeds because the plants leaves and stems produce an oil which insects and other pests hate, making it 100% natural. So by adding Chia to your food, you’ll be improving the taste as well as maintaining A HEALTHY BALANCED DIET.

No wonder it’s being hailed as a super food. In my opinion, this has to be one of the BEST WAYS TO LOSE WEIGHT.

So if your hungry before lunch, add a few of these little beauties to a bottle of WATER and you won’t be tempted to snack.

Warmest Regards

Lea

MILA all day every day

Jamey_Hanley_wcreditsLike other health professionals, I am frequently approached to represent or endorse various kinds of vitamins and other nutritional supplements or treatments, to which I usually say “no.” When Lifemax came around I was not looking for anything else to do. I was already very busy and not looking to add anything else to my already full plate. However, one thing I have learned over the past 20 years or so is that great opportunities are rare and maybe only come around once every decade. Therefore, I never close my mind to an opportunity but instead I always take a cursory look so I can at least feel good about saying “no.” The leadership at Lifemax combined with the company’s amazing healthy whole raw food, Mila, made it hard for me to say “no.” Consequently, “yes” was the only correct answer.

From a health and wellness perspective, Mila is simply amazing. This healthy whole raw food is quite literally helping so many people that it is becoming a movement in and of itself. As a dentist, I have seen patients exhibiting the signs and symptoms of conditions in their earliest stages. In many cases, significant improvement can be achieved by modifying the diet with Mila. The reason for this is because my extensive training and experience allows me to recognize the oral changes that are often the first sign of systemic illness. As an example, patients with undiagnosed diabetes will often have telltale signs such as “acetone breath.” Vitamin B deficiencies may cause halitosis, burning tongue, cracked lips and sores in the corner of the mouth. I believe that the nutrients in Mila are ideal for everyone and especially those with maladies and conditions such as these. This puts dentists in a unique position, among health care providers, to have a profound impact on our patients early simply by urging them to include Mila in their diet. On a personal level, my father died of complications from diabetes, so I know first hand the impact this disease can have and the importance of diet. It is because of my family history as well as my professional dedication and desire to help others that I recommend Mila all day every day with no reservations.

Mila and Psychotherapy

dale_keeton_wcredits-213x300Following my personal experience with taking Mila, and the several positive effects noted, I began to research the effects of Omega-3 as it relates to mental health and was appalled with my ignorance!  Through a mutual friend, I was introduced to a research physician at NIH who specializes in Omega-3.  With his encouragement, I began an informal “anecdotal” experiment with a few of my patients who struggle with depression.  Each one of them reported improvement in mood within a week of consumption.  Three of them decided (without my recommendation) to stop taking their anti-depressant meds, and reported that they did just as well without them.  While I still do not advise patients to stop their medication, I believe at this point that Mila enhances the effectiveness of the meds.

In addition to the most common effects of Mila such as improved energy and gastro-intestinal improvement, I have had reports of lowered blood pressure and cholesterol, as well as a decrease in joint and muscle pain and weight loss.

A side benefit of Mila relates to the encouragement and hope that comes when long-term symptoms of physical and mental distress are diminished.  One couple came to see me recently with intense emotional, relational, and financial pressure.  Each presented an affect of hopelessness.  Following a general assessment and mental status exam, it was apparent that the husband had been experiencing life-long endogenous depression (and now, situational depression) and the wife had ADHD, neither of which had been diagnosed.  I referred them both to a psychiatrist for medical evaluations, but while waiting for their appointment date, they began taking Mila.  When I saw them the following week, he demonstrated more energy and optimism, and gave familiar reports of the positive effects of the grain.  She reported that she was focusing more clearly and really liked the changes she saw in her husband. More important than these reports, to me, was the renewed hope that their marriage could be saved and they could find a way to stabilize their financial situation.

America's #1 surfer loves Mila

Karina Petroni nd Michael Lattuca, Jr.

Karina Petroni nd Michael Lattuca, Jr.

At 21, Karina Petroni has already lived a dedicated and passionate life. As the #1 female surfer in the United States, she has been making and breaking records within the surfing world since she was merely nine years old.

After her father suffered an aneurysm and subsequent stroke nearly two years ago, Karina and her family were motivated to organize The Never Quit Tour to help educate the community on how to avoid brain bleeds, stroke and heart disease through healthy life choices and to encourage survivors to take on a “Never Quit” attitude and live life to its fullest.

While Karina and her brother Erik were promoting the “Never Quit Tour” to a group of high school students in Ponte Vedra, Florida, Karina was approached by Michael Lattuca, Jr., a tenth-grader at the school.

“Understanding that our father had suffered a severe stroke and that our organization advocates the prevention of such conditions, Michael introduced us to Mila,” said Karina. “He explained that the omega 3s act as a brain food and that it might assist our dad in his recovery.”

Intrigued by the amazing health potential of Mila, Karina soon met with Michael’s father, Mike. After learning about all of the goodness that Mila has to offer, she decided to join Lifemax as an Independent Distributor.

“Mila and health are synonymous,” said Karina. “If you are health conscious like I am, Mila is the single best delivery system of Omega 3’s, without the mercury that is in fish oil.”

One of Karina’s goals at Never Quit Never is to make sure that everyone knows the benefits of good nutrition and exercise and the impact that they can have on the health.

Mila and Gastroenterology

mitch_davis_wcredits-copyOn a personal note, Mila has made significant improvements in my health. I have genetic hypertriglyceridemia, and take 3 medications to control my lipids. However, the best reading for my LDL (”bad cholesterol”) was 120.  After 6 weeks using Mila, my LDL was 80, and my HDL (”good cholesterol”) rose from 50 to 65.  Both of these are cardioprotective.  Despite supplementing with Co-Q 10 while I take statins, I was still having problems with my memory and concentration.  Within a short period after starting Mila, I noticed a marked improvement in my mental capacity.  In addition, I have an improvement in my overall energy level.

Patient testimonials:

I have had many of my patients report improvement in their acid reflux symptoms, and several patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome have improved while taking Mila.  I find Mila useful to improve constipation, and am using Mila for my patients with fatty liver, both to support a weight loss regimen, and because omega-3’s reduce hepatic lipogenesis.

My most dramatic testimonial involves a young woman who has Systemic Lupus Erythematosis, who is Rheumatoid factor positive. She was regularly having severe flare-ups, and associated joint inflammation.  These symptoms required her to use 8-10 narcotic based pain medications, as well as non-steroidal anti-inflammatories daily.  Her energy levels were very poor; she could no longer exercise and was frequently calling out sick from her work.  After using Mila for 2 months, and since that time, her flare-ups are minimal, her pain medication and anti-inflammatory use is markedly reduced.  In addition, her hair is growing in thicker, and her energy levels have improved to the point where she is getting to the gym, as well as running again.  In her words, “Mila has given me back my life.”
